Rick Santorum was projected the winner of the Colorado caucus by CNN. The victory came as a surprise as former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was favored in the Centennial State race going into the contest.

By Kim Geiger Rick Santorum won the Colorado GOP presidential preference straw poll, according to the Colorado Republican Party. The victory means a trifecta tonight for the former Pennsylvania senator, who also won in Minnesota and Missouri.

Rick Santorum was projected the winner of the Minnesota caucus on Tuesday night by NBC News. ABC News projected Ron Paul to finish in second place in the North Star State.
